Platinum Skies start a new chapter for retirement living in Salisbury

Steeped in history and based in the heart of the community, the people of Salisbury came together to celebrate the landmark opening of our new retirement living village Chapters, located just off Wilton Road. The Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor John Walsh joined homeowners and guests to perform the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the new development, which features a stylish collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments.

Designed exclusively for those aged 55 and over, our affordable homes start from £120,000 on a shared ownership basis, where we’re proudly pioneering an accessible and affordable route to a dream retirement.

Constable Court, the first phase of the retirement living development is a collection of 47 well-designed apartments. When complete, Chapters will provide 197 affordable properties for a vibrant community of an expected 300 people.

It’s aimed squarely at those who are fed-up with the usual isolated locations and high costs of average retirement developments. Chapters is also conveniently located in walking distance of NHS healthcare facilities, transport links and the city centre.

Situated back from Wilton Road, in the grounds of the historic Grade-II listed 19th century Finch House and former Old Manor Hospital site.

Attendees at the Chapters official opening had the opportunity to chat with key figures from the local community such as Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Dr Phil Harding, Leader of Salisbury Council, Cllr Jeremy Nettle and to meet the friendly Platinum Skies team. Also showing their support were Lisa Clayton from the Government’s Homes England affordable housing scheme and local author, Tony Howe.

Guests also had the honour of being among the first to enjoy Chapter’s own impressive facilities include an on-site bistro, adjoining a communal terrace and private lounge, an area perfect for meals and after dinner drinks.

Each of the apartments have been carefully designed with owner independence at the forefront. The open-plan homes are flooded with natural light and the kitchens and bathrooms have all been equipped with the latest in low-maintenance, energy efficient technology.

Balconies in the higher apartments offer sweeping views of city centre, Salisbury Cathedral and the rolling countryside beyond. Friends and family wishing to stay overnight can be booked into one of the self-contained guest suites, creating a comfortable and stress-free home environment for residents and visitors alike.

Councillor Derek Brown OBE of Salisbury City Council and Wiltshire County Council said: “We were impressed by the detail, quality and thought that has gone into the development, which is so welcome here in Salisbury. We look forward now to seeing the remaining phases come into being.”

David Hines, Chief Operating Officer at Platinum Skies said: “Alongside Homes England, we are placing over £60m into this development. This is a huge investment into the local economy and indicative of our confidence in Salisbury itself.”

David Hines, added: “We believe maintaining control and independence is important to everyone, regardless of age. Here at Chapters in this historic site in Salisbury, we’ve created an environment that feels less like retirement and more of a lifestyle choice. Our society faces huge pressures on how we house, care and fund the retired.”
