Mayor of Christchurch Opens Monterey Retirement Apartments

The Mayor of Christchurch Councillor Nick Geary has officially opened Monterey, our first Platinum Skies retirement development in Christchurch.

Planting a Monterey sapling, the development’s namesake, to commemorate the opening, the Mayor commented:

‘It is my pleasure to open Monterey for the people of Christchurch, Platinum Skies have created much needed high quality retirement housing – I’m sure this would be a very happy place to retire.’

Located in the grounds of the newly revamped Christchurch Hospital, Monterey is a collection of 35 one and two bedroom retirement apartments, available for retirees through our exclusive part-buy part-rent scheme.

David Hines, Platinum Skies Chief Executive, delivered a speech at the opening, thanking our early reservists, local councillors and the local community:   

‘We’re delighted to officially open Monterey. This is a significant development for Christchurch and one I hope the local community take pride in. Platinum Skies believe all retirees deserve a high quality lifetime home, and so all our apartments at Monterey are available through our unique part-buy part-rent scheme which makes living here truly affordable.’

Everyone who attended the opening received a guided tour of the large, open-plan properties, built to adapt to changing needs with flexible layouts, lifts throughout and ample storage – crucial for all downsizers.
