Bite into Healthy Eating Week with Platinum Skies Platinum Skies are celebrating The British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week (10-14 June) and here’s how you can too! This week is all about raising awareness of how to eat more healthily and live a better life. At Platinum Skies we’re also committed to encouraging healthy eating and being physically active. At our three new developments in South West England – Chapters in central Salisbury, Vista overlooking Poole Harbour and Esprit in the centre of Poole – Platinum Skies are pioneering a new approach to retirement living and nutritional care. Our stunning retirement sites have an on-site bistro for residents wanting a dining destination a stone’s throw from their home. Our daily menus will include healthy eating options, added to which the chefs will be holding cooking workshops and specially themed evenings celebrating food from around the world. The bistro is open to the public as well as residents, creating a new social hub in the centre of the development, and all helping residents to mix and mingle with the local community. Every development has a dedicated on-site Lifestyle Manager, who as well as devising a programme of residents’ activities, assist them individually on a day-to-day basis. With a mix of social activities, days out and health related activity, there is something for everyone. We offer sessions such as yoga, Pilates and tai chi, all held in the residents’ communal ‘studio’ or out on to the large adjoining terrace over the warmer months. Alternatively, customers can explore the area with mini bus excursions to the theatre, concerts and local places of interest. Residents can also sign up to or even lead one of our walking programmes, with guided tours around the surrounding woodland and down to the coastline. Beyond physical activity, we are responding to demand for a more holistic approach to health and wellbeing, with massages, physiotherapy and chiropractic services all available in-house to residents. Why not take the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week five health challenges: Have breakfast Have five a day Drink plenty of water Get active Sleep well For more information about Healthy Eating Week, please visit their site here.
