What will you be doing this Father’s Day? Here’s our local events guide.

With Father’s Day this Sunday (don’t forget now!), we want to celebrate all dads from across the region. Whether you treat him to a slap-up lunch or a day at the races, there’s a large assortment of places to visit that are only a short journey from our Platinum Skies retirement living sites in Poole (Espritand Vista), Christchurch (Monterey) and in Salisbury (Chapters).

Here’s a few of our suggestions to keep the old fella in your life happy this weekend:

What’s going on in Dorset

Enjoy your retirement in Dorset with a range of events. Why not arrange a visit to Farmer Palmers Farm Park, near Wareham. This is a great outing for the grandkids and will prevent you from becoming a laughing stock for forgetting this years Father’s Day.

Another great family option is exploring Moors Valley Country Park. There’s plenty for all to do, including scenic walks in the forest or a ride on the miniature steam railway.

Or go bananas at Monkey World, where they are offering 50% off tickets for dads with their children. This is a fantastic day out that offers both education and fun.

All dad’s love cold beer, fact. Quench that thirst with a trip to Ringwood Brewery on Sunday for a BBQ, beer festival, family activities and a free pint of the local tipple for your father.

Alternatively, you could tank your father for all he has done by visiting The Tank Museum in Bovington. After all, there’s nothing more manly than heavy machinery and explosions.

You could then pair it up with a trip to see some incredible Classic Cars on the Prom at West Overcliff. It’s completely free for spectators and runs from 4pm to 6pm.

For daredevils and the young at heart, head to Bournemouth Pier to have a go on the Bournemouth zip line that whizzes you out across the sea and safely onto the beach.

What’s going on in Wiltshire

Retirement in Wiltshire has never been better. Dig out your best tweed and take your loved ones to the Father’s Day Races at Salisbury Race Course. This highlight of the Wiltshire society calendar is the place to be seen.

Or if you don’t fancy horsing around, there’s more than meets the sty at Cholderton Charlies Farm who are offering free entrance to all dads. The farm is packed full of all your favourite furry friends including pigs, goats, sheep, donkeys, calf’s, ponies, rabbits, peacocks, chickens and ducks.

For a touch of culture, Wilton House and the Grounds offers a wonderful day out in Wiltshire. Stroll around the House with its 17th-century interiors and world-famous art collection by renowned artists such as van Dyck, Pieter Brueghel, Rembrandt van Rijn and Richard Wilson.

If you’re feeling suitably inspired, then get creative at Splash of Colour, a cafe pottery painting studio in Salisbury. Paint your own pottery, make mosaics and try the potter’s wheel.

For a musical treat, Sunday afternoon sees the Celebrate Salisbury Concert take place in the City Hall. Performing at the concert will be The Wiltshire Police Band, supported by The Salisbury Royal British Legion Band, The Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir and The Woodlands Primary School Orchestra.

If you’re willing to travel further afield, then Longleat Safari Park this Father’s Day is offering up to 15% when you book online. Hopefully, we’ve given you a few ideas and hope you have a fun-filled Father’s Day.
