This month we are focusing on FUN days out and DEALS that will help you save money, without having to miss out on the action! We can’t imagine anything more freeing than finally having the time to enjoy the leisurely things to do that you always wanted to experience. Despite the current nervousness around the cost of living going up, there are clever ways to save money, without missing out on all the fun. Here are our latest hand-picked savings, to help you enjoy less cost and more living! National Trust Membership With a National Trust Membership, you get free entry to over 500 stunning locations across the UK. If you’re 60 or over you are eligible to purchase a membership for a reduced fee if you have been a member for at least 5 of the past 10 years. You’ll pay £57.60 for an individual senior membership and if you hold a joint senior membership, it’s £95.40. National Trust sites near our developments: Lodge Park & Sherborne Park Estate, Sherborne Montacute House, Taunton Corfe Castle, Dorset Mompesson House, Salsibury National Theatre If you are an avid theatrical enthusiast, then the National Theatre offers reduced prices on selected matinee performances for those over 60. Save on midweek matinees with £20 off selected tickets for shows in Lyttelton and Oliver theatres. Royal Shakespeare Company If you are yet to find a performance you want to see in the National Theatre, then the Royal Shakespeare Company offers a 20% discount on selected performances for those over the age of 65. English Heritage English Heritage is offering around 10% cheaper tickets for those over 65, and is a great opportunity for individuals who like to explore historic sites around the UK. There are some wonderful English Heritage sites around our developments that our homeowners can enjoy. By being a member of English Heritage, it will give you access to over 400 castles, ruins, stately homes, and much more… you are also safeguarding the heritage of England for future generations to come. It costs £59 for an annual senior membership, while a regular individual adult membership costs £66. A joint senior membership is £92 compared to a general joint adult membership which costs £115. As well as being able to access all the historic places, members can get free entry for up to six children, a free handbook to plan your days out, free or reduced entry to events occurring throughout the year, a subscription to a quarterly magazine and special offers on other brands. English Heritage sites near our developments: Sherborne Old Castle, Sherborne Muchelney Abbey, Somerset Maiden Castle, Dorset Old Sarum, Wiltshite Fitness Centres If you like to keep active and be part of the action, many fitness centres offer exclusive activities and classes for senior members, at a discounted rate. The size of this discount and activities available/suitable to the elderly is dependent upon your local sports centre. Make sure to ring in advance or ask at the help desk about elderly prices around using facilities. Wiltshire FA provides walking football for men and women aged 50 years and over, which is suitable for those who may have had health problems, preventing them from playing at a faster pace located at the Five Rivers Leisure Centre in Wiltshire. Over 66’s can get active in Better gym centres with a Better Health Senior Membership giving you inclusive access to all gym facilities and up to 30% off other activities and services. From walking football to aqua aerobics classes for senior members, there is something for everyone. Museums/ Attractions Being able to enjoy the local and national attractions at a discounted price has its benefits, as many museums and other attractions offer discounted entry for the over 60s. It’s always worth checking what the best price you can get for memberships, as it might work out cheaper to do this than pay each time you go to the attraction or museum. Museum sites near our developments: Compton Acres, Poole: You can save £1 for a ticket each time you visit or get an annual membership; this pass gives you free entry to our ten acres of beautiful gardens, and provides you with half-price entry for up to four additional guests. If that isn’t enough, the pass also gives you 10% discount in the café, plant centre, ticket office shop, and ‘Gifted Moments’ shop! Stonehenge, Salisbury: If you have a membership to the English Heritage or National Trust, which already has discounted prices for seniors, you will be able to visit for free. However, there are also concessionary tickets for over 65’s, where the price will be £19.80, compared to a full-price adult ticket of £22.00 (with donation).
