Festive events hitting the right note in countdown to Christmas

This Christmas is going to feel a little different from previous years, but our homeowners are keen to have the best festive season possible and our Lifestyle Managers are putting in extra efforts to make that happen.

We’re pleased to confirm that live music is alive and well at Platinum Skies with socially-distanced entertainment bringing festive cheer to our homeowners in Parkstone and Salisbury.

Local singer, Rossano Sal, performed a host of festive numbers including A Holly Jolly Christmas, Merry Christmas Everyone, Feliz Navidad, When A Child Is Born, and It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas at Vista in Parkstone and Chapters in Salisbury. The popular performances were seen by an upbeat, socially-distanced audience of residents in the lounges of our retirement communities as part of a host of special, socially-distanced events organised in the lead up to Christmas Day.

Following his show in Parkstone, Rossano Sal said: “It was really nice to be back performing to a live audience at Vista. It was great to be able to lift people’s spirits and it was nice to hear the positive feedback on how much people enjoyed it.”

Our homeowners across Vista in Parkstone, Esprit in Poole town centre, Monterey in Christchurch and Chapters in Salisbury are looking forward to a host of activities this month including a chocolate tasting workshop, wreath making crafts, cheese and wine evenings, quizzes and crafts.

All of our events are organised by the dedicated onsite Lifestyle Managers who aim to safely bring each of our communities together to boost their wellbeing while reducing loneliness and isolation as part of the countdown to the big day.

Vista resident, Linda Green, attended the Vista event with her husband, John. Linda said: “It was very good. We enjoyed it a lot. We’re looking forward to the residents’ Christmas lunch, so we can all get together, but at a social distance this year. We like all the music events at Vista. It makes it feel a bit more like Christmas.”

Brian King was also in the audience alongside his wife, Kath, to enjoy the festive music at Vista. Brian said: “My wife, Kath, really enjoyed it. We’ve got several events coming up including a Christmas jumper day, and our residents’ Christmas dinner, which will be nice as we are all friends here.”

Throughout the year, our Lifestyle Managers create a programme of events each month which residents can attend and socialise with their neighbours. Planned activities in January include pilates, chair-based exercise classes, fish and chip lunches, and coffee mornings.

David Hines, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are really keen to ensure that nobody feels lonely or isolated this Christmas, so our fantastic Lifestyle Managers have each put together a brilliant programme of events to ensure that everyone can take part, while safely adhering to Covid restrictions. We have such a fantastic team spirit across all of our sites and know how much the communities have looked forward to coming together at this time of year.”

Viewings for all of our properties are available and can be booked in advance with enhanced Covid-safe measures in place for the safety of visitors, our homeowners, and the team. Alternatively, visitors can arrange an online virtual tour to take a look around a potential new home.
