Monterey Garden party celebrates plaque

The sun was shining on our first summer garden party at Monterey.

The party centred around the unveiling of a new plaque. Commemorating the historic iron pillars from the original Christchurch hospital buildings; which now stand proudly in the gardens of Monterey. Built in 1881, the pillars were designed to hold up elements of the Victorian hospital formerly on the site. The pillars were saved and restored by Platinum Skies as part of their partnership with The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Foundation Trust.

In time for residents’ first summer in their new homes, Richard Renaut, Chief Operating Officer of The RBCH NHS Trust and David Hines, Chief Executive of Platinum Skies, unveiled the plaque together.

Residents were joined by the NHS Board, staff from the neighbouring Macmillan team, and staff and residents from the adjacent nursing home, Fairmile Grange. Acknowledging the former hospital’s history as a military hospital, members of the Royal Navy Association also attended, joining other guests to enjoy afternoon tea whilst the Christchurch & Highcliffe Brass Band performed a fantastic programme of classic tunes under the namesake pine which forms the centre of the landscaped gardens.

David Hines, Chief Executive of Platinum Skies, comments, “It was a delight to host a garden party at Monterey for the unveiling of the plaque for the hospital pillars, tying Monterey to the history of the site as well as celebrating our joint venture with The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals Foundation Trust. The sun was well and truly shining for our event, contributing to a fantastic afternoon for all our guests.”

With 80% sold and more residents moving in over summer, new apartments at Monterey have just been released and are available for private viewings. Speak to the team on 01202 471461 for more information, or browse our website here
