Sunshine and ‘socially-distanced’ pilates at Vista! Homeowners at Vista in Poole recently enjoyed a morning of sunshine, stretching and socially-distanced pilates! The fantastic Jodie Anne Fitness gave her regular class, but with a slight difference. Taking part from the safety of their balconies, homeowners enjoyed the fitness session that took place from the landscaped, communal garden. Pilates instructor Jodie Nielsen was pleased to be able to resume her classes for homeowners who are currently observing the Coronavirus lockdown measures at Vista. Jodie said: ” Firstly, thank you so much for allowing us to do this. I really loved it and I have been missing my class at Vista so much! I’m so glad the residents enjoyed it too.” https://vimeo.com/407931725 With the glorious weather and inspiring views over Poole Harbour, the class proved to be a welcome distraction during this period of isolation. Maintaining an active social life is a cornerstone of the Platinum Skies lifestyle and has many health benefits. Being part of a community is known to also help to beat feelings of loneliness, which is especially important during the lockdown. It’s important to remember that loneliness can affect anyone, of any age. This is why at all Platinum Skies locations there is an on-site Lifestyle Manager helping to build a dynamic community with exciting events, as well as offering support to each of the residents. David Hines, Chief Operating Officer of Platinum Skies, said: “No amount of isolation can dampen the spirits of our community at Vista. Whilst residents can’t meet up for their usual pilates class in the activity room, they were able to work out together from their balconies, safely distanced apart, all while enjoying the beautiful view in the Spring sunshine. We are delighted that we can support our community by organising activities like this, to help lift spirits and provide light relief through this period.” Mike Lyons, Operations Director at Platinum Skies says: “Every development has a dedicated on-site Lifestyle Manager, who as well as devising a programme of residents’ activities, assists them individually on a day-to-day basis. They are there to help each resident to enjoy a fulfilled and active retirement. As well as enjoying generously sized homes with a high specification, each of our residents can look forward to a stimulating lifestyle and a fulfilled retirement.” Barbara Cox, Head of Wellbeing at Platinum Skies, said: “We understand that this period of isolation is likely to have an adverse affect on the older members of our society, who may be temporarily cut off from seeing family or friends due to the current social distancing guidance. Being part of such a large community, such as those at our developments, can make a world of difference, providing opportunities for connection right on the doorstep.”
