Christmas Events near Christchurch 2016

Christchurch is home to our Monterey property of exclusive one and two bedroom retirement apartments. It’s a great community which Monterey sits at the heart of and is especially magical around this festive time of year! There are a host of local Christmas events to attend and we’ve picked some of our favourites below:

CADArts Christmas Art Fair 13th November, 2016

CADArts are getting together again for their popular Christmas Art Fair! This year they’ll be housed at Hoburne Naish Holiday Park with a whole host of exhibitors displaying. This is a lovely event celebrating the local artists and culture of Christchurch and the surrounding area and can be wonderful to attend either on your own or with others.

Entry Fee: Only £1 (children go free so it could be fun for the grandkids!)

Christchurch Christmas Festival 26th November

This one is great for the whole family. For 2016 there is a whole community celebration planned including Christmas Market, Craft Fair, Santa’s Grotto, Live Music, a Santa parade and the Christmas Light’s Switch on. The Christchurch Christmas Festival is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit, spending time around the beautiful stalls and soaking up the atmosphere with the rest of Christchurch. The best part about this event is that it is wholly run by volunteers from the local community (we wrote a post about volunteering here), and is a time when the whole community comes together. So if you want to enjoy mulled wine, german beer or hot chocolate, with live music, watching Father Christmas and his procession and cheer for the light’s switch on, then come and enjoy the Christchurch Christmas Festival 2016.

Christmas Spectacular – The Regent Centre

One of the classic things to do at Christmas time is visit the theatre. At Christchurch’s Regent Centre this year the Glad Rag’s production is back with their Christmas Spectacular! Pulling together festive and theatrical delights for the whole family they will take you singing and dancing around the world in 90 minutes! Beginning in the North Pole where Santa is hosting an Elf Convention you’re taken around the world to visit elves from all over on a fun-packed journey which even has polar bears.

This show runs right up until Christmas Eve and is guaranteed to give enjoyment to all the family so why not treat yourself and the grandchildren?

Autism Wessex Christmas Carol Service

This annual carol service is perfect for music lovers who wish to support a good cause at this time of year. In the spectacular surroundings of The Priory at Christchurch, this carol service has a wonderful festive atmosphere and gives you the opportunity to make a small donation to Autism Wessex when you partake of the mince pies and mulled wine after the service.

Doors open at 6:30pm and as this is a non-ticketed event it is recommended you arrive early to ensure you can find yourself a seat before the event begins. Come and support Autism Wessex and get into the Christmas spirit at this carol service.
